Filming Day 1 - December 20th

Filming Day 1 - Performance Scene

Today we filmed the performance scene for our music video, Me, Kyle, Jess and Danny all met around about 10:00am at the front reception including our actors/performers Ben and Fraser. Signed in and ready we headed to the studio to check the room, also making sure that it was suitable for filming.

First of all we needed to set up the studio with the appropriate props and lighting. The studio we were in had a separate room were someone had controls of the lights in the room, and also included a headset in which we could communicate to each other between the studio and the room. The equipment we had to obtain from the music department was a drum kit, amp and a microphone with a stand that we carried to the studio, as for the guitars our performers brought their own.
After all the equipment was in the studio and everything was moved to appropriate locations we began adjusting and testing the lighting to make sure it wasn't too bright or wasn't well lit in the studio. Once that was sorted we filmed the performance with two cameras and the song with the lyrics on a computer screen so that our lead singer Ben can read them.
As for the order of the filming we started filming from the beginning of the song but in different takes as our performers weren't confident at first and needed to warm up and get used to the song. We also used the shooting schedule as a plan for some of the shots we needed. Later when they were more confident we started filming the song in one take but we would change the positions of the camera around the performers to get a shot of each band member at a different angle, allowing us to have a variety of shots which would make it easier to edit and include more jump cuts.
The shooting went well, we included a variety of shots such as close-ups, medium shots, long shots and pans, although the majority of them were close-up shots of the band members. Overall after hours of shooting I feel that we have enough clips for our video and it was a successful day of filming.

No Tomorrow - Draft Animatic (Narrative)

Orson: No Tomorrow - Draft Animatic

This is a draft animatic that I created on Adobe Flash CS5 in which is animated. It is based on the narrative part of the storyboard that Danny sketched out and is also the treatment idea for our music video.

This is a basic idea and point of view in which the music video will look like and shows the order of the scenes of the narrative and currently doesn't match the timing of the video as it is only the initial elements of the video.

Locations/Props

Locations/Props

Scene 1 - Bedroom

For the beginning part of the music video we will need a bedroom which should be slightly messy to reflect on the main character and in the room there will be beer bottles scattered across the floor along with some clothing such as a sock and a dirty t-shirt. We will use this location to shoot the protagonist waking up and getting ready for band practise.

- Phone (IPhone with many missed calls and texts)
- Beer Bottles
- Clothes

Scene 2 - Outside of a House

After the main character has gotten ready we will see him leave the house and then encounter the bird poop that will land on him, which will then cause him to go back inside to change shirts/jackets. The front of the house doesn't need to be special, the only thing we would need though is a room with a window above the door since it will make it easier to throw the bird poop down.

- Fake Bird Poop (Dry Acrylic with sticky tape to stick on the shoulder)
- Bird Poop Droplets (Sun Cream or Yogurt)

Scene 3 - High Street

We will need a street for the thief scene, for the location we need a house which we are allowed to film at with the permission of the owner. We will need to shoot the protagonist helping the thief out with loading the boxes of contents into his car and then interrupted by the angry man.

- Car
- Balaclava
- Box/Heavy looking object

Scene 4 - Town

This scene we will need a public location, in this case we have chosen to film in town as the man is handing out the drunk awareness leaflets. In this location we will film the scene where the protagonist knocks the leaflets out of the mans hands and then gets shoved and chased after. We will try to find a less crowded time as if there are too many people we may have trouble capturing the shots, and re-filming will be even more difficult as each time we will need to pick up the leaflets.

- Beer Bottle Costume (If unable to get, not complusory)
- Drunk Awareness Leaflets

Scene 5 - Abandoned Building or Old Shack

This scene will be in a abandoned shack where no one will normally be, in this case the people who are performing the ritual are there. We will need to film the protagonist arriving at the location and then looking inside the building and seeing the cult performing a ritual. The location will be in an old building in Sand Bay which is a local area.

- Ritual Symbol (Drawn on large piece of Paper)
- Candles
- Robes (with hoods if possible)

Scene 6 - Studio

This location will be used mainly for the band performance parts which will cut in now and then of the narrative. The location we have booked is a TV Studio in college and looks like a music room where people practise and is also has lighting settings. This scene will be used for the end of the music video as well when the protagonist finally arrives and sees that his band members have left. The symbol of the ritual will be a pentagram which is typically what is used or seen in satanic rituals.

- Instruments
- Guitar
- Bass Guitar
- Drums
- Microphone (with stand if possible)
