The Conventions of Rock

1. One of the main features of the Rock genre is that most of the time the audience will see the band performing on stage or a set location, this is often seen typically in music videos of band such as of the guitarist, drummer, bass, and singer/vocalist.

2. Another convention is close ups of the one of the members of the band, usually it will be the singer as he is the one singing the lyrics and also it focuses on them more so that the audience will remember them thus promoting the band/album.

3. Often the performance will be based on a set location or a stage with lights, which suggests to the audience what the experience of the concert/tour will feel like. On some occasions there might be a crowd watching them perform.

4. The costume that Rock genre artists will normally be wearing are dark clothing, such as black jeans, black t-shirt and ether messy or styled hair.

5. There will also be a narrative of somewhat in some rock genres often expressing emotion into the video by telling a story that either follows the lyrics or sometimes contradicts it, whilst also showing the band performing.
